How Towel checks every chef
People let Towel providers into their homes, so Towel's own team checks each one before they can be booked. Towel's team works through every one of these checks before approving them.
Also for every chef
- Asked about food hygiene training
- Asked the biggest group they have cooked for, so you can match the chef to your event
- ID checked by a personA valid ID (NIN slip or card, passport, driver's licence or voter's card), checked to be genuine and in date, with the NIN matched.
- Live video selfieA short video selfie, matched to the face on the ID, so the person who comes is the person we checked.
- Home addressProof of address from the last three months, checked against the address they give.
- References and a guarantorTwo references and a guarantor, all called by Towel's team before approval.
- Met by TowelTowel's team meets each provider in person or on a video call before approving them.
- Bank account in their own nameSo every payment goes to the real, named person.
Towel Safety comes with every booking
A free safety tool for you and the provider, from the moment they set off until the job is done. How Towel Safety works
See who is coming
Your Towel Safety pass shows the provider's real photo with "ID checked by Towel", before they arrive.
Check them at the door
Before you open the door, ask for their arrival code and check it in Towel Safety.
Help if you need it
An SOS button alerts Towel's safety team, and your trusted person if you've added one. In an emergency, call 112.
Rate and report
After the service, rate the provider, or report a problem and Towel's team follows it up.
Prices
Each chef sets their own price, per hour or per job (for example, one dinner). You see it in the app before you book, and you pay that price: Towel adds nothing on top.

Each chef on Towel sets their own price, per hour or per job, and you see it in the app before you book. You pay the price shown, with nothing added on top by Towel.
Can the chef buy the ingredients?
Some Towel chefs also do the food shopping. Agree the shopping budget before the day, and ask for the receipts and the change.
