How it works
Get a card
Receive one as a gift (by email, WhatsApp or as a printed card), or buy one from Towel International or a partner store.
Scan it
Have the Towel app? Scanning the QR code opens the app and adds the card to your Towel account. New to the Towel app? Enter the email address you will sign up with, and the card is waiting in your Towel account when you sign up. No need to scan again.
Use it at checkout
Pay for stays, flights, rides, tickets and experiences in the Towel app with your card balance, or get your perk discount.

What happens if I don't use the whole gift card at once?
The rest stays on your card. Use it on later bookings until it runs out or the card expires. If a booking costs more than your balance, you pay the difference with your usual payment method.
When does my card expire?
12 months from the date it was bought (or given, for perk cards). The date is shown on your card and in the app. We remind you by email 30 days before it expires. Any value left after the expiry date lapses.
Can I exchange my card for cash or get a refund?
No. Towel Cards can only be used for services on the Towel app. They cannot be exchanged for cash, are non-refundable, earn no interest, and do not increase in value over time.
Can I give my card to someone else?
Yes. A Towel Card can be given to anyone until it is added to a Towel account. Once added, it belongs to that account.
I don't have the Towel app yet. Do I need to scan the card again after I sign up?
No. When you scan the card, choose I'm new to the Towel app and enter the email address you will sign up with. Then download the Towel app and sign up with that same email (you will get a code to confirm it). The card is added to your Towel account automatically.
Can I use it on flights?
Yes. Gift card balances can be used in full on flights. Perk card discounts on flights are capped at a small amount.
What if my booking is cancelled?
If a booking paid with your card is cancelled and qualifies for a refund, the amount paid with the card goes back onto your card (not as cash). If the card has expired by then, it is reopened for 30 days.
I lost my card. What can I do?
Treat your card like cash and keep the code private. If it has not been added to a Towel account yet, contact us with the serial number (for example G-000123) and proof of purchase, and we will check what we can do.
Key terms
- Redeemable only for services on the Towel app. Not usable at other businesses.
- Not exchangeable for cash. Non-refundable. No cash withdrawals or refunds of unused balances.
- No interest and no increase in value: a ₦50,000 card is always worth ₦50,000.
- Transferable: may be given to anyone until it is added to a Towel account.
- Valid for 12 months from purchase. Unused value lapses at expiry.
- Every card has a unique code and QR code. Keep it private: anyone with the code can add the card.
- A card kept for an email address is added to the Towel account that signs up or signs in with that email.
